KING DIAMOND Voices Character On 'Death Clock Metalocalypse'
August 28, 2006KING DIAMOND is the latest metal musician to lend his voice to the cartoon series "Death Clock Metalocalypse". King Diamond recorded his part on Monday, August 21 and reportedly "kicked ass." Other musicians who have contributed to the series include Michael Amott (ARCH ENEMY),Warrel Dane (NEVERMORE),Steve Smyth (NEVERMORE),Jeff Loomis (NEVERMORE),Kirk Hammett (METALLICA) and James Hetfield (METALLICA). Check out images of Hetfield's and Hammett's appearance in the series, which premiered August 6 on Adult Swim (the adult-oriented television programming block on Cartoon Network),at Metallica.com.
"Dethklok Metalocalypse" follows the mayhem surrounding the world's biggest band, and 12th-largest economy, the half-Norwegian/half-American black metal band DETHKLOK, according to ThePhoenix.com. They live in a gigantic upside-down dragon boat perched atop the fjords of Norway. They cause disaster, destruction, and bloodshed wherever they go. In an age where metal is king, DETHKLOK's business savvy trumps the world's most shrewd visionaries. But they're excessively dumb when it comes to the most rudimentary tasks. For example, they don't know how to make food for themselves — not even a sandwich. During one scene, guitarist Skwisgarr Skwigelf tries to make coffee with a toaster. Although they've outsold THE BEATLES, DETHKLOK are, according to show co-creator Brendon Small, "just a thousand times more dangerous and a billion times more stupid."
KING DIAMOND (the band) is featured on the soundtrack to the motion picture "Clerks II", the 2006 sequel to Kevin Smith's 1994 movie "Clerks". The "Clerks II" soundtrack contains 11 music tracks (plus one bonus music track) from the movie, including two KING DIAMOND tracks — "Welcome Home" and "The Invisible Guests" — as well as 13 dialogue cues from the film.
KING DIAMOND recently finished recording the drums, bass and rhythm guitars for its upcoming album, tentatively due in early 2007. The follow-up to 2003's "The Puppet Master" will contain 13 tracks (including an intro),five of which were written by the band's guitarist, Andy La Rocque. Frontman King Diamond will soon begin writing the lyrics for the album, which is being recorded in Dallas, Texas and at Los Angered Recording (owned by La Rocque) in Gothenburg, Sweden.
KING DIAMOND last year completed a U.S. tour with NILE, BEHEMOTH and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER. A live CD, "Deadly Lullabyes Live", was issued in 2004.
